im not sure if people have made this comment before or not, but i think i have a few ideas why people say they like the old one better or something about a lack of improvement ( which is untrue). if you have heard this or already know it i apologize for wasting your time in advance.
i could go on and on about the various improvements that i can point out from this piece alone; the anatomy, color use, the overall "flow". It looks like a scene that was captured from movement rather than a pose, if that makes sense..
the only feasible thing i can see that would make people say the older one is better is relating to color and the preferences of your watchers, which im assuming are mainly younger girls. the older work has more vibrant colors, more of a shine, more contrast. the newer one seems a bit hazy and dull compared to it. i am not saying the newer one does not have any shine, because it most certainly does, just if you compare it the colors are overall more saturated, which young moe moe people generally prefer. now, i do not think this is a bad thing, it is a stylistic choice. but think that is why people have those opinions.
But the new one is definitely my favorite!
